There’s always lots happening on our traditional ancestral Hacklbauer Farm with dairy farm and own breeding animals. The animals have to be taken care of, the hay has to be worked and the fields fertilised… The Walchhofer Family is glad of every helping hand. Your children have the oppurtunity to get close up to farm life, to help out in the stables or to take a ride out on the pony.

The Hacklbauer is a grassland farm with dairy farming and own breeding animals. At the moment we have 20 cows, 6 female calves and 6 male calves on the farm. The calves spend the summer in Zauchensee on the alpine pasture. The dairy cows graze at home in the meadows, their milk is used for tasty products of the “SalzburgMilch” range. Here on our farm you can experience real life on the farm. Weather permitting haying begins in May. The fodder is fed to our animals in winter. The manure and the slurry are sprayed on the meadows in the spring, so everything grows well.

The history of the ancestral farm
Our farm has been owned by the Walchhofer Family since 1721. It was officially awarded the title “Ancestral Farm” on 24th October 1979. In 1998 we took over the farm from our parents and renovated it in 2004.
A new roof was constructed, all balconies were renewed, a new wood chip heating system with eco-friendly biomass energy was installed and wetlands for wastewater treatment were created. The following year we started on the interior and we primarily used local wood. On 26th December 2005 the first guests came to stay and since then we have enjoyed increased popularity amongst our many regular guests.
